The Detroit Tigers acquired Codi Heuer from the Texas Rangers in a trade on Thursday.

In return, the Rangers received cash considerations.

Check out our MLB Trade Deadline tracker here for all trade updates.

Heuer is throwing a 3.43 earned run average in 35 games this season in Triple-A, striking out 53 batters while walking just 15 walks and 36 hits in 39.1 innings of work.

The 29-year-old only appeared in one game for the Rangers this season, giving up a run on one hit in one inning with one strikeout. Heuer has been mostly in the minors for his career, not appearing in an MLB league game since 2021 for the Chicago Cubs, where he finished the season with a solid 3.14 ERA.

The reliever is on a one-year contract with a third year of arbitration set for 2026.

Detroit adds yet another relief pitcher to their staff, making it their fourth bullpen arm acquired at the trade deadline, including Paul Sewald (details here), Rafael Montero (details here), and Kyle Finnegan (details here).
