The Dallas Stars defeated the Minnesota Wild 4-2 on Monday night as the playoff series is now tied up 1-1 heading into Game 3.

Home teams that start off 1-1 in a series go on to win the series 55% of the time, with the opposite for the road team being 45%.

The series now heads to Minnesota for Game 3 (April 22nd) and Game 4 (April 25th).

Recap & Highlights

Minnesota would have the first big opportunity after going on the power play 4:17 into the game. But after not capitalizing, the Stars made them pay.

Wyatt Johnston would score the first goal of the game to put Dallas up 1-0 for all but a couple of minutes...

Johnston would tie Jere Lehtinen for the second-most game-opening playoff goals (8) in Stars history, now sitting behind franchise all-time leader Mike Modano (13).

That one-goal lead would go away as quickly as it came after Brock Faber would tie it up 1-1 just two minutes later for his first goal of the playoffs.

Minnesota's Nick Foligno would get called for elbowing in the second period's first penalty, leaving the Stars to take the lead once again.

Matt Duchene would score the power play goal that put the Stars up 2-1 as the lone goal of the second period between both teams.

Miro Heiskanen, who recorded an assist on the goal, became the third-fastest non-USA defenseman to reach 50 career playoff assists, sitting behind Sergei Zubov (80 games) and Sandis Ozolinsh (81 games).

After Duchene's goal, both teams would combine for a total of eight more penalties in the period, with neither team taking advantage of the extra opportunities.

Robertson would get in the action with his second goal of the playoffs to give the Stars a 3-1 lead in the third period.

After some great saves from Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger, the Wild would find their way past him.

Faber would snipe his second goal of the game to pull the Wild back within one with half the third period to go, making it the first multi-goal game of his career in both the regular season and playoffs.

For most of the period, neither team would commit a penalty until Dallas was whistled for too many men on the ice with 3:44 left, leaving Minnesota's No. 3 power play a chance to tie it all up.

In a wild turn of events, right after Dallas killed the penalty, Minnesota would get called for the same penalty with 1:32 remaining, down by one, leaving them in the toughest situation possible.

Johnston would score his second goal of the game with the empty-netter to make it 4-2 as Dallas would even the series up.

After a rough first game, Oettinger bounced back in net for the Stars, making 28 saves on Minnesota's 30 shots on goal.
