The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Seattle Mariners 8-2 in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series on Thursday.

Seattle got things started in the bottom of the second inning when Josh Naylor sent one out of the park for a 1-0 lead.

Unfortunately, they couldn't do much else - recording just four more hits the entire rest of the game.

Then, it was all Blue Jays from there on out.

Andres Gimenez launched a two-run home run in the third inning to put the Jays up. The team would also walk home a run to increase their lead to 3-1.

The fourth inning wasn't much different for either team.

George Springer notched an RBI double to make it 4-1 before a wild pitch would make it 5-1.

Seattle finally started to show some life in the sixth inning when Eugenio Suarez knocked in a run to cut the lead to 5-2.

But that was just about it from the Mariners' bats the rest of the way.

Then, Toronto just began adding insult to injury when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. launched a solo home run to go up 6-2, his fifth of the postseason.

Gimenez would bring in two more runs in the following inning to bring it to their final score of 8-2.

Blue Jays starting pitcher Max Scherzer, at 41 years old and having not pitched in over two weeks, gave his team a solid 5.2 innings of work, giving up the two runs on three hits with four walks and five strikeouts.

Manager John Schneider wanted to take Scherzer out before finishing the fifth, but the future Hall of Famer convinced his Schneider to let him stay in and finish the inning.

Mariners starting pitcher Luis Castillo was done after 2.1 innings, giving up three runs on five hits and recording a walk with just one strikeout.

Seattle finished the game 1-for-3 with runners in scoring position, the Blue Jays 3-for-10.

Four players on the Blue Jays had at least two hits, while Naylor had three of the Mariners' five.

Game 5 will take place in Seattle on Friday, October 17th.
