Dallas Mavericks star player Kyrie Irving (32) is out for the remainder of the season after tearing his ACL during Monday night's game against the Sacramento Kings.

The injury occurred when Irving was fouled while going up for a layup.

He went to the free-throw line and made both shots before stepping away to the locker room with team trainers during the first quarter.

Irving had just seven points with one assist and a rebound before exiting the game.

He was averaging 25.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game for the Mavs this season.

There's currently no further update on Irving's injury status. (This article will be updated when more details are released.)

The injury bug has been digging into the Mavericks over the past month.

Recently acquired star centre Anthony Davis is out with an adductor injury while others such as P.J. Washington (ankle), Dereck Lively II (ankle), Daniel Gafford (knee), and Caleb Martin (hip) were all out for tonight's game.
