Dominican Republic hit four home runs to show off their devastating power in a 12-1 rout over the Netherlands in seven innings in Pool D at the World Baseball Classic on Sunday.

After their walk-off win courtesy of Ozzie Albies on Saturday, the Netherlands were plunged back down to earth by the Dominican lineup.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Juan Soto, Austin Wells and Junior Caminero all hit a long bomb in the victory.

The party began early against the Dutch bullpen, with Guerrero Jr hitting a single to drive in an early run, before Manny Machado grounded out to bring in another.

There was some early pop for the Netherlands - Didi Gregorious halving the arrears in the second with a deep shot, but from then on in it was all DR.

Toronto Blue Jays starman Guerrero Jr would end the day 2-4, and it was his second hit that got the crowd jumping in Miami.

He hit a 381-foot bomb to left field that put two more onto the scoreboard in the third, before Caminero slammed a three-run bullet 424 feet to make it 7-1 in the fifth.

Wells and Soto would add on later, putting the score past the 10 required runs to end the game early in the seventh.

The result moves the DR to two wins from two, and they look odds-on to move on to the quarter-finals. For the Netherlands, who had five total hits in the loss, they now face Israel in the next match, knowing they must win to keep their chances of the knockouts alive.

Cuba strike early to down Colombia

Over in Pool A, Cuba put up four runs in the first inning of the game to beat Colombia 7-4 for their second win of pool play in San Juan.

After a sacrifice fly from Jordan Diaz put the Colombians ahead in the first inning, Cuba jumped all over starter Luis Patino, who survived just 0.1 innings, as Ariel Martinez went yard to bring in three runs before Erisbel Arruebarrena made it back-to-back homers to get rid of Patino early.

The scoring would stall until the sixth inning, when Colombia got a run back before Cuba's Yiddi Cappe tripled for two RBI and make the lead 7-2.

It's been a disastrous tournament for Colombia, who fell to 0-3, but they did add two consolation runs in the seventh to give the scorecard some respectability.

Meanwhile in Pool B, Italy made it two wins from two with a 7-4 victory over Great Britain.

Despite a quick start for Great Britain with two early runs, Italy were able to put up crooked numbers in the third, fourth and fifth inning to seal the victory. Andrew Fischer was the star of the show, with two hits and two RBI.
