One of the most significant days in the sports year is the MLB's Opening Day. So we're here to bring you all the highlights!

Opening Day 2025 was pure cinema from top to bottom.

From walk-off hits to home runs galore, and even heartwarming rookie moments, this is what baseball is all about.

So we decided to throw together a list of this year's Opening Day's biggest moments!

O's hit six homers in The Six, O'Neill keeps record alive

The Baltimore Orioles opened up the season on an absolute tear after they raked six home runs against the Toronto Blue Jays

Cedric Mullins and Adley Rutschman both hit two home runs, while Tyler O'Neill has now homered in a record six straight Opening Day games. 

Jordan Westburg hit the sixth for the Orioles in a back-to-back moment after Rutschman hit a bomb to deep right field.

Kyle Stowers walk-off win in Miami

Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers hit the first walk-off hit of the 2025 MLB season to give his team the 5-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates

Austin Wells makes history

New York Yankees catcher Austin Wells was not just the first catcher in franchise history to leadoff, but he's also the first leadoff batter in Yankees history to hit a home run on Opening Day!

To add even more to this historic feat, Wells is the first catcher for any team to hit a leadoff home run since 1900.

Wilyer Abreu homers twice in Red Sox win

Boston Red Sox right fielder Wilyer Abreau hit two runs and drove in four runs in the team's 5-4 victory over the Texas Rangers

The Philadelphia Phillies took home a 7-3 win over the Washington Nationals after scoring four runs in the 10th inning, which was started thanks to a base-clearing double by Alec Bohm

 Over in Kansas City, the Cleveland Guardians took down their division rival Royals 7-4 thanks to a four-run inning that was sparked by a bases-clearing double by Kyle Manzardo, who finished the game 3-4 with four RBI.

13 K's in shutout for MacKenzie Gore

Despite not picking up the win for the Washington Nationals, starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore struck out a whopping 13 batters in his season debut while tossing a six-inning shutout. 

Gore had the best starting pitcher performance across the board while not walking a single batter. 

MLB Debut Hits

Houston Astros rookie Cam Smith hit the first pitch he saw in his first-ever major league at-bat as he hit a single to right field in the bottom of the second inning. The 'Stros beat the New York Mets 3-1. 

Another MLB debut hit came from Boston Red Sox rookie Kristian Campbell as he hit a single to shallow left field, finishing the day 1-3 en route to a 5-2 win over the Texas Rangers. 

Derrick Rose throws perfect first pitch

Former Chicago Bulls guard and fan-favourite Derrick Rose tossed a perfect first-pitch strike for the Chicago White Sox before the team went on to earn their first Opening Day win since 2022 with an 8-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels

White Sox rookie tosses shutout

White Sox rookie Sean Burke tossed a six-inning shutout during Opening Day against the Angels. 

Burke gave up just three hits while striking out three and walking none en route to the White Sox win. 

This is now the first time since Opening Day 2023 that the White Sox have been over .500.

Joe Buck returns to the booth

Broadcaster Joe Buck called his first MLB game since 2021 for the New York Yankees-Milwaukee Brewers matchup and paid tribute to the late Bob Uecker, the legendary Brewers announcer who recently passed away

Ichiro throws 84 mph first pitch

The legendary Ichiro Suzuki, who was recently inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame, threw out the ceremonial first pitch for the Seattle Mariners in full uniform - and hit 84 mph on the radar gun!
