Yesavage was on the Blue Jays' 15-day injured list, set as week-to-week. However, due to Toronto sitting behind five teams in the battle for the final wild-card spot in the American League, the 23-year-old could miss the rest of the season.
The right-hander, who was the team's first-round draft pick in 2024, had a 5-5 record this year with a 3.65 ERA across 18 starts. He has managed 91 strikeouts and 46 walks through 93 2/3 innings.
Yesavage's debut came in 2025 when he went 1-0 in three starts. He posted a 3.21 ERA as the Blue Jays reached the World Series. During the postseason, he played six games, starting five, going 3-1 with a 3.58 ERA.
His last game came on August 4 when he lasted only two innings before being replaced.
It is also a stressful period for the Jays given recent roster developments. Kevin Gausman was traded to the Chicago Cubs during the trade deadline, while Jameson Taillon was moved to the 15-day injured list on Tuesday, leaving a depth issue.
