Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Paul Skenes (22) and catcher Henry Davis (25) became the first battery (pitcher-catcher) of former No. 1 overall picks in MLB history on Monday night.

Davis came into the game after starting catcher Endy Rodriguez left with an injury.

The battery wasted no time at all after Davis caught a nasty Sweeper from Skenes

Davis was the first overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft and made his Pirates debut in 2023. He is batting a concerning .188 over the course of those three seasons and is 0-6 at the plate this year.

Skenes, the former first overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, made his debut last season - winning National League Rookie of the Year, earning an All-Star nomination, and placing third in the National League Cy Young Award voting.

In three starts this year, not including Monday's game (tonight) against the Washington Nationals, Skenes is 1-1 with a 2.96 ERA, a 0.74 WHIP, and 26 strikeouts in 24.1 innings.
