"I’ve been optimistic," said Boone. "The last few weeks as they started to talk, I felt like there was common ground there and that we were going to be able to get to a place (where we agreed to a deal)."
Boone, who's been the team's manager since 2018, led the Yankees to a World Series birth last season in which they eventually lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
“It’s great stuff,” said Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge. “Leading us to the World Series last year the amount of winning seasons we’ve had, taking us to the postseason all those years, except for 2023. As players, having a leader like that who we can look to and come to, he knows all of us in this room."
Under Boone, the Yankees have yet to have a losing season, going a total of 603-429 in seven years.
The Yankees have also won the American League East division three times under Boone with the other three seasons coming in second.
The 2023 season was the only odd one out when the team finished fourth in the division with an 82-80 record.
