Los Angeles Angels star outfielder Mike Trout (33) received a standing ovation on Friday from the Philadelphia Phillies fandom, marking his return to the City of Brotherly Love.

Trout, a well-known fan of Philadelphia sports teams, originally received a standing ovation in his first major league game at Citizens Bank Park in 2014.

Now, the future Hall of Famer and one of the game's all-time greats received the same reception once again, before going 2-5 in the team's first game back from the All-Star break, putting up a single, double, and an RBI.

Trout was born just 45 miles away from Philly in Millville, New Jersey, although he's still considered a fan favourite among the city's fandom.

"Growing up, I loved Philly," said Trout. "These were my sports teams growing up.”

The Angels ended up winning the game 6-5, with one of those runs coming from Trout's RBI single in the fifth inning to tie the game up.

Trout is slashing .241/.365/.474 on the year with 17 home runs and 42 RBI in 72 games.

The veteran is once again the talk of trade rumors as the MLB trade deadline begins to creep up, with Phillies fans hoping the team makes a move for the three-time MVP and 11-time All-Star, to which Trout says, "I see (the trade rumors) all the time."

Trout has spent all 15 years of his career as a member of the Angels and is currently in the seventh year of his 12-year, $426.5 million contract, making him an unrestricted free agent in 2031 when he'll be 39.

Los Angeles improved to 48-49 (fourth in the AL West) while Philly fell to 55-42, still maintaining their lead in the NL East.
