Former Kansas City Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas (36) announced his retirement on Monday after a 13-year career.

The former second overall pick in the 2007 MLB Draft spent the first seven-and-a-half years of his career in Kansas City, where he was a two-time All-Star (2015, 2017).

Moustakas was part of the 2015 Royals team that went on to win their second World Series in franchise history.

The Royals are going to sign Moose to a one-day contract on May 31st so that he can retire as a member of the Royals.

In his time with Kansas City, Moose batted .251/.306/.430 with 139 home runs and 441 RBI.

Moose eventually joined the Milwaukee Brewers in 2018 after being traded by the Royals.

The following year in 2019, Moose made his third and final All-Star appearance but this time with the Brew Crew - a year in which he hit a career-high 35 home runs.

He would eventually go on to play for the Cincinnati Reds for three seasons before splitting the 2023 season between the Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Angels

Moose finishes his career with a total of 215 home runs, 683 RBI, and 1,252 total hits with a .247 batting average
