The Toronto Blue Jays acquired three-time Gold Glove-winning second baseman Andres Gimenez (26) and relief pitcher Nick Sandlin (27) in a deal with the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday.

The Guardians will receive infielder Spencer Horwitz (27), who is entering his third season. (Update: Horwitz is now being sent in a trade to the Pittsburgh Pirates while the Guardians will acquire pitchers Josh Hartle, Luis Ortiz, and Michael Kennedy.)

Gimenez slashed .252/.298/.340/.638 last season for the Guardians with nine home runs, 63 RBI, and 30 stolen bases. The Venezuelan native hit a career-high 147 hits this past season and added his third Gold Glove award along the way.

The Guardians signed Gimenez to a seven-year, $106.5 million extension two years ago but now he'll be looking to fulfill the remaining five years in The Six.

Sandlin is coming off of a perfect 8-0 season for the Guardians as a relief pitcher, posting a 3.75 ERA with 46 hits given up in 57.2 innings pitched. His 68 strikeouts last season were a career-high, but as far as numbers go he almost replicated every single one of them from the 2023 season.

Horwitz will now look to be the promising new infielder for the Pirates. The former 24th-round pick posted an impressive .265/.357/.433/.790 slashline for the Blue Jays last year, adding 14 home runs, 40 RBI, and 42 walks in 328 at-bats.

The Maryland native played his first lengthy season in the big leagues last year after playing in just 15 games during his rookie campaign (2023).
