"I'm a winning player. This is a winning organization," said Bregman. "Those players are winning players. We have winning coaches here. I plan on winning here after talking with some of the guys over the last two days. I can see that there's something special here."
Bregman rejected other deals from other teams, including the Detroit Tigers who offered him more money, but ultimately chose the Red Sox.
His new deal includes $40 million per year, but deferrals average it to just above $31 million. The deal also includes a $5 million signing bonus and opt-outs after each season.
Bregman was originally drafted by the Red Sox in the 29th round of the 2012 MLB Draft but elected to play ball at LSU for three years before the Houston Astros selected him with the number two overall pick - the same team he spent all nine years of his career before joining Boston.
From then on, he became a two-time World Series champion and a two-time All-Star with a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger in his trophy case.
The star third baseman slashed .260/.315/.453/.768 last season for the 'Stros with 26 home runs and 75 RBI.
