Following the successful numbers from their Christmas games this past NFL season, Netflix is looking ahead to possibly streaming Sunday afternoon games in 2025.

Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria confirmed that the streaming giant is looking to take a bite out of the NFL pie along with competitor Amazon Prime Video.

"I definitely want the Sunday (afternoon) games," Bajaria said on "The Town" podcast.

Netflix broke a streaming service record last Christmas with the highest viewership (24 million) ever for the double-header between the Pittsburgh Steelers-Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens-Houston Texans

How a possible deal would work is up to the league, Netflix, and CBS and FOX, who currently air the Sunday afternoon slate of games. Both of their contracts with the NFL run through 2033 with opt-outs after 2029.

AFC games have been partial to CBS since 1998 while NFC games have been the same to FOX since 1994. So there lies some difficulties that Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos acknowledges.

"If there was a path where we could actually make the economics work, for both us and the leagues, we would certainly explore (it)," said Sarandos during a fourth-quarter earnings call. "But right now, we believe that the live events business is where we really want to be."

ESPN hosts Monday Night Football every week while Amazon Prime Video streams Thursday Night Football. NBC still holds its rights to Sunday Night Football.
