Dallas Cowboys cornerback Travon Diggs (26) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers and will undergo season-ending knee surgery.

The knee surgery lands Diggs on the IR and has been stated that it's separate from the ACL tear he endured last season.

In 11 games this season for the Cowboys, Diggs managed to wrack up 44 tackles, 11 pass deflections, and two interceptions with a 60.3 coverage grade, which ranked 110th out of 213 qualified cornerbacks this year.

The former Pro Bowl corner now joins teammates Dak Prescott, Zach Martin, DeMarcus Lawrence, DeMarvion Overshown, DaRon Bland, and a flurry of others on a brutal IR list for the Cowboys.

Diggs is currently under a five-year, $97 million contract and won't be an unrestricted free agent until 2029. His contract currently accounts for $14.1 million against the cap this year and will hike up to $14.25 million in 2025, $19.75 million in 2026, $24.75 million in 2027, and finally $20 million in 2028.

The Cowboys' pass defence ranked 23rd in the league this year, giving up 223.4 yards per game in the air, while their total defence averages the second-worst points per game given up (28.2), just under the Panthers' 29.8.

Dallas is heading into its matchup against Carolina with a 5-8 record. It is looking to gain any momentum it can with just three games left before the NFL playoffs begin, even though they have just less than one percent of a chance of getting in.
