The Cincinnati Bengals announced on Monday that the team has hired Jerry Montgomery (45) to serve as the team's defensive line coach/run game coordinator and Mike Hodges (38) as the new linebackers coach.

The announcement comes just a week after the team hired Al Golden to be their new defensive coordinator.

Montgomery is coming over from the New England Patriots after the team hired new head coach Mike Vrabel, who is cleaning house to bring in his own staff. Montgomery spent the first nine years of his NFL coaching career working for the Green Bay Packers in various roles such as defensive front assistant coach, defensive line coach, and run game coordinator.

Meanwhile, Hodges, a former linebacker at the Air Force and Texas A&M, spent all previous eight years of his NFL coaching career as a defensive assistant and linebackers coach for the New Orleans Saints.

Cincinnati had the 25th-ranked defence last season - showing they're in desperate need of a new system.
