Fourteen-year-old Armando Coelho made history by making his first-team debut for FC Porto Handball as the highly-rated center back, aged exactly 14 years, 11 months, and 12 days, enjoyed his first minutes for the senior team in a pre-season friendly against ABC Braga at the Dragão Arena

Armand is the son of former Portuguese handball legend Eduardo Filipe, who scored over 1,000 goals for the national team.

Head coach Carlos Martingo integrated the teenager into the entire pre-season training camp after Coelho impressed with the B-team last season. The club plans to ease him into first-team action gradually over the coming season.

During the 39–27 victory over ABC Braga, the backcourt player immediately impressed and scored a goal right away. Although the match was merely a pre-season friendly, FC Porto captioned an Instagram video of Coelho’s debut with the words: "Remember the name."

Coelho said after his debut that it was great playing alongside teammates "who could still be playing with my father." He added, "Of course, it’s a dream come true."

The new season begins for the Portuguese side at the end of August, and Coelho may see action in official matches then as well.
