Mammoth goaltender Karel Vejmelka earned his first career playoff win after putting up 19 saves.
Logan Cooley became the youngest (21y, 353d) American player in NHL history to score a goal in each of his first two playoff games after he scored the eventual game-winning goal that put the Mammoth up one late in the third period.
Game 3 (April 24th) and Game 4 (April 27th) will now head to Utah, where the fans will be able to watch their first-ever Stanley Cup Playoffs games in Salt Lake City.
Recap & Higlights
The Golden Knights had three power play opportunities in the first period and made sure to capitalize on the first one.
Mark Stone scored his second of the playoffs to put the Knights up 1-0.
He now needs three more points to surpass Jonathan Marchessault (75) for most in franchise playoff history.
Much like the Knights, the Mammoth would also score on their first power play...sorta.
Mackenzie Weegar would be credited for his goal of the playoffs to make it 1-1, but it would come from Rasmussen Anderson accidentally kicking the puck into his own net.
Utah originally had a 4-on-3 power play and a 5-on-4 power play right after earlier in the second period but failed on both attempts.
Fans even received a ref hot mic moment after Utah's Michael Carcone was given a two-minute minor for unsportsmanlike conduct.
As it would take Utah 17 minutes to get on the board in the first period, it would take them 15 minutes to do so again in the second.
Dylan Guenther would score his first goal of the playoffs off a one-timer to give the Mammoth a 2-1 lead that lasted only 62 seconds.
Vegas wouldn't let Utah have the lead for more than a minute and some change.
Ivan Barbashev scored his second goal of the playoffs to make it 2-2, while Jack Eichel picked up his second assist of the night.
Six minutes into the third period, Utah would have a perfect chance as they went on the power play. But they would only put up one shot as the Vegas penalty kill continued to dominate until Utah pulled ahead...
In the end, Utah went 0-for-4 on the power play in Game 2. But the Mammoth continued to prefer playing at even strength.
Cooley would send home his second goal of the playoffs with six minutes left in the third to make it 3-2 en route to a win.
