Twins acquire All-Star closer Jeff Hoffman from Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays traded closer Jeff Hoffman to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for pitcher Dasan Hill, pitcher John Klein, and infielder Dameury Pena.

Hoffman, 33, who has taken on more of a reliever role this season, has a 3.94 ERA in 51 games with five saves. The vet has 75 strikeouts (15 short of setting a new career-high) in 48 innings, giving up 48 hits and 18 walks.

Hill, 20, is the Twins' No. 7 prospect. He's tossing a 3.19 ERA between Single-A and High-A ball this season with 83 strikeouts in 62 innings. 

Klein, 24, has a 4.15 ERA in three games with the Twins this season (a 5.91 ERA in Triple-A). 

Meanwhile, Pena, 20, is slashing .300/.373/.362 with one home run, 47 RBI, and 20 stolen bases in 83 games between Single-A and High-A.
