The relationship between the Portuguese coach and Evangelos Marinakis has broken down for good. He won't be taking part in the return to Europe, where Nottingham have matches against FC Porto and SC Braga.

Nuno Espirito Santo's time at Nottingham is coming to an end. This Monday, The Athletic, Fabrizio Romano and Record reported that the Portuguese coach had broken his contract with the English club, which was signed until 2028.

The decision came from Marinakis, and the relationship between the Portuguese coach and the Greek businessman has now been definitively broken. It should be made official in the next few hours.

Hired in 2023/24, Nuno Espirito Santo helped the two-time European champons secure their Premier League status in his first season and the following season led a surprising campaign that ended with qualification for the Europa League.

This season he had one win, one draw and one defeat in the first three rounds of the Premier League and was preparing for the European adventure that would take Nottingham Forest to face FC Porto and SC Braga. A former goalkeeper, Nuno Espirito Santo's coaching career began in 2012 and includes spells at Rio Ave, Valencia, FC Porto, Wolverhampton, Tottenham and Al-Ittihad.
