Defender: Trent Alexander-Arnold vs Newcastle (A) & Everton (A)

Liverpool retained their status as the best defence in the Premier League this season in the 2-0 win against Manchester City on Sunday, keeping their seventh clean sheet of the campaign. They’ve conceded just eight goals in this time, five fewer than any other side.

Defender Trent Alexander-Arnold remains a popular fantasy option, finding himself back in the starting eleven following a short spell of injury. He had three goal attempts against City, the most of any defender in the game last weekend, plus he made two key passes.

Alexander-Arnold’s attacking output has been a little scarce this season given his own very high standards, but his underlying numbers suggest that this could improve. He ranks second among defenders for big chances created (6), underperforming from a 3.26 expected assists metric.

Liverpool have the upcoming fixtures to deliver clean sheets, with Alexander-Arnold predicted to score 4.6 points against Newcastle and 4.9 against Everton. The Magpies could be without Alexander Isak for this one, while Everton have failed to score in four successive games.

Midfielder: Cole Palmer vs Southampton (A) & Tottenham Hotspur (A)

Chelsea’s Cole Palmer should be the go-to captain pick for Gameweek 14, where he’s predicted to score 7.6 points away at Southampton. He’s also a worthy contender on 6.6 predicted points in Gameweek 15 for the trip to Spurs, although Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah will be the headline act on a 7.4 prediction.

Palmer owners were starting to worry with three successive blanks, but a double-digit haul in the 3-0 win against Aston Villa has alleviated any concerns, including a spectacular strike. Palmer had five shots on goal in that game, including three shots in the box and three on target.

Palmer is third only to Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah for shots on goal in the last four Gameweeks with 14 and he also ranks fifth for key passes in this period, with nine. His routes to points are plentiful, especially since he’s on penalties and fatigue shouldn’t be an issue with European midweeks off.

He comes up against Saints and Spurs defences who each look set to be without their first-choice goalkeeper and centre-back pairings. Southampton have kept just one clean sheet this campaign, while Spurs have three.

Forward: Erling Haaland vs Nottingham Forest (H) & Crystal Palace (A)

For the fourth successive week, Manchester City striker dominates the transfers out list, with just one goal in the last four Gameweeks. When it comes to goals scored this season, Salah is rapidly catching up with him, with other midfield premiums Palmer and Saka well clear of him in FPL points terms.

Despite this, Haaland remains the top forward choice by predicted points in each of the next two Gameweeks, predicted to score 7.1 points in midweek for the visit of Nottingham Forest and then 7.2 points for the trip to Crystal Palace.

Haaland has won the Golden Boot in consecutive Premier League seasons and remains the favourite for 2024/25. In the last four Gameweeks, he leads the way for shots (21) and shots on target (8), while he sits second for big chances with seven, underperforming his 3.55 expected goals metric.

Manchester City’s form has to improve at some point, with Haaland’s output critical to that. Nottingham Forest have conceded in their last four away trips, with Haaland scoring four against them in two appearances at the Etihad. Haaland has also scored in both of his visits to Selhurst Park.

Hidden Gem: Kai Havertz vs Manchester United (H) & Fulham (A)

Arsenal striker Kai Havertz returned to the starting lineup for the 5-2 win at West Ham, having missed the previous 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest. He scored his first away goal of the season at the London Stadium, adding to the four goals and one assist registered at the Emirates.

Havertz is hovering at just over 10% ownership, and while teammate Bukayo Saka is becoming an increasingly tempting pick, adding Havertz into a potential Arsenal triple-up could reap the rewards in the next two Gameweeks.

He’s predicted to score 5.5 points in midweek against Manchester United and a further 4.7 points away at Fulham at the weekend. He’s a player who should avoid rotation across the congested fixture schedule since he’s completed 90 minutes in every game he’s played this season.
