Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the signing of Tanzania international Adolf Bitegeko from Azam FC as they continue to rebuild for next season.

Bitegeko, 27, is a defensive midfielder who played for several clubs in Iceland before joining Azam in January 2024. He has joined Chiefs for an undisclosed fee.

“The 27-year-old defensive midfielder, who was captain at Azam, becomes the first player from Tanzania to join Amakhosi,” Chiefs said in a statement. “His arrival adds to the impressive list of players from over 20 different African countries who have worn the famous Gold & Black jersey.”

Bitegeko played for Tanzania in the previous Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign but has not featured recently. All five of his caps came in 2024.

Bitegeko joins defender Thabo Moloisane and goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner as new recruits at the club.
