The Red Wings were at home to take on the Edmonton Oilers, who reached the Stanley Cup last year. It was another dominant showing from the former, who got two goals from Emmitt Finnie - his maiden goals in his NHL career - in a 4-2 victory.
Dylan Larkin also maintained his scoring streak, contributing in all six of the Red Wings' games so far. Goaltender John Gibson made 16 stops, and also got an assist in the wing.
In Utah, the Mammoth found their way past the visiting Boston Bruins 3-2. Despite David Pastrnak getting both of the guests' goals on either side of the first intermission, there was no backing down from the home side.
Clayton Keller tied things up with four minutes and change left in the second, before Dylan Guenther netted the winner midway through the third.
The Vancouver Canucks also posted a win on Sunday, doing their damage in the first period in a 4-3 defeat of the Washington Capitals.
Defenseman Tyler Myers was part of the goals for the visitors, getting a goal and an assist. Elias Pettersson, Kiefer Sherwood, and Teddy Blueger were the goalscorers in the American capital as Vancouver raced to a 4-0 lead just five minutes into the second frame.
The Caps came alive after that, finding the back of the net thrice. Unfortunately for them, it was not enough in the end. Thatcher Demko stopped 28 of 31 shots to help the Canucks to the win.
There was one match that requied overtime, which came in Chicago. At the United Center, Ryan Donato played hero for the Blackhawks in their 2-1 success against the Anaheim Ducks.
Mason McTavish had levelled the score for the away team with 36 seconds left in regulation after Frank Nazar had put Chicago ahead earlier in the frame.
But the Blackhawks were not to be denied on the night, with Donato's finishing off Conor Bedard's pass with 2:02 left in the extra period to grab his team the win.
