Emil Nielsen and Barcelona on Friday night claimed their 32nd league title, when they recorded a 39-25 win over Helvetia Anaitasuna in the Palau Blaugrana.

It has been a bit of an unusual season for Barcelona. Barca have lost two matches this season and the last time this happened was back in the 2009/2010 season, but the club still managed to secure the title in style. Barcelona have so far won 24 out of 26 matches in the Spanish league and its their 15th successive title in Liga ASOBAL.

In attack Dika Mem led the way for the home side after the Basque visitors had taken an early lead. The blaugranes did not waste any time building up a 8-4 lead and the efforts of Jonathan Carlsbogard, Timothey N'Guessan and Hampus Wanne helped Carlos Ortega's team to a 19-14 lead at the interval.

In the second half Blaz Janc and Javi Rodríguez stepped up to widen the gap to 26-16 while goalkeeper Vincent Gérard made his home debut after the break following his appearances away at Benidorm and Valladolid.

In the end Emil Nielsen and blaugranes could celebrate an important 39-25 win to finally claim the league title and give themselves a confidence boost ahead of the Champions League tie coming up against Pick Szeged.
