Team Esbjerg could be severely handicapped in their Danish domestic campaign as well as in the Champions League as last season's leading goalscorer, the Swiss international, Tabea Schmid, has suffered a shoulder injury.

"Our line player Tabea Schmid, who also plays for the Swiss national team, has unfortunately suffered a muscle injury in her left shoulder, and we expect the injury to keep Tabea out of action for 4-8 weeks", say Team Esbjerg in a press release.

"The health staff is monitoring the situation and working with Tabea to get her back to full fitness."

Tabea Schmid joined Team Esbjerg in the summer of 2025 after playing for Copenhagen Handball for two years.

Last season, Tabea Schmid was leading goalscorer in the Danish domestic league, Kvindeligaen, with 287 goals.
