The rumors regarding the 24-year-old’s future in Rhein-Neckar Löwen began already in 2023, and when Löwen finished in 12th spot in the Bundesliga in 2024, it became quite clear that Knorr needed a change. The 25-year-old had also stressed that he was looking for a country where he could walk in peace in public places and wasn't under the same scrutiny as in the German Bundesliga.
So, in the end, he chose Aalborg also to satisfy his ambitions of playing in the Champions League, and despite initial problems, Knorr now feels that he is gradually settling into his new life on and off the court.
"I had a small injury when I arrived, which kept me out for around three weeks, but after that, I have settled more and more into the team. The big ambition is to win the Champions League, and there is a lot of pressure to win all matches, but it's also what you need to develop. When you move to another club, it takes a while to get used to things, but I am starting to feel more and more at home in Aalborg."
"In the beginning I struggled to understand what people were saying, and after a week I had the desire to throw in the towel, but then I gradually enjoyed more and more small moments of success where I understood more and more, and that gave me more motivation", says Knorr in an interview with Handball-World.de.
David Späth, Knorr's teammate in the German national team, also says that Knorr's decision to move to Denmark was the right one.
"For him, it was definitely the right step in his career, also to fulfill his ambition of playing in the Champions League. And after just two and a half months there, he is already doing interviews in Danish, which is really impressive. I think he will gradually settle more and more into the team, and that is great to see."
Coach of Aalborg Handball, Simon Dahl, says that Knorr's impact on the Danish champions will only be greater the more he settles into his new life.
"Everything was new for him when he arrived. A new country, a new league, a new language. In Germany, they think that the Bundesliga is the only league that is tough, but the Danish league is also very challenging. I think he has done very well and has done a lot of good things for us. We are very happy to have him here."
"He is an amazing player, especially in attack, but we have discussed with him that we also want to use him in defense, so we are gradually grooming him for that, and on fast-breaks, he is also very useful for us."
Knorr wil be one of the main profiles in the German national team who will take part in the European Championships set to start on 15 January.
