Dom Taylor has been handed a six-month ban following a positive drug test during the 2026 World Championship. The Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) announced the decision on Wednesday evening.

Taylor was able to convince the DRA committee at his hearing in January that he had taken the drugs outside of competition.

"After considering all available evidence, the committee concluded that Mr Taylor had used both cocaine and cannabis outside of competition and not after the start of the World Championship on 11 December 2025," the DRA statement read.

The basis for the Englishman's punishment is the 2021 anti-doping regulations of UKAD. These rules stipulate a minimum six-month ban for repeat offenders.

"The committee has determined that this is Mr Taylor's second offence and, in accordance with these rules, he must serve a six-month suspension under sections 10.9 (a) and 10.9 (b) of the UKAD Anti-Doping Rules 2021," the DRA statement concluded.

Taylor tested positive on December 14th, 2025 and was suspended on December 19th.

Despite qualifying for the second round of the World Championship, the Englishman was withdrawn from the tournament.

As a result, he loses the £25,000 prize money in the rankings, drops out of the top 64 and forfeits his tour card.
